If your anxiety isn’t responding to the usual advice meditation, exercise, journaling it’s not because you’re doing it wrong.
It’s because your body may be asking for something deeper.
For Black women especially, anxiety often shows up in ways that aren’t always understood by mainstream medicine: tightness in the chest, knots in the gut, spiraling thoughts that wake you at 3 a.m. You’re not weak. You’re not broken. Your nervous system is trying to protect you.
And that’s exactly why herbal medicine can be such a powerful ally.
In my newest video, I explain:
How anxiety shows up physically not just mentally
Why calming the nervous system requires more than “positive thinking”
And two herbal formulas I use with my clients to bring them back to center
But before you watch, here’s a quick primer to help you understand why herbs work when other things don’t.
Most people try to fix anxiety in the mind.
But herbs work by bringing the body into safety supporting the nervous system, digestion, and even hormone balance, which all play a role in how anxiety lives in the body.
Herbs like:
Passionflower — for racing thoughts and restless nights
Chamomile — for anxiety that lives in the gut
Skullcap — for muscular tension and spiraling thoughts
Ashwagandha — for that “wired but tired” feeling so many of us know
And those are just the beginning.
But here’s the thing: the real magic comes when you understand where anxiety lives in your body and match the right herbs to it.

Not all anxiety feels the same. In fact, it often settles in one of three places:
Your head: Insomnia, brain fog, racing thoughts
Your heart: Palpitations, shallow breath, tight chest
Your gut: Bloating, nausea, stomach cramps
Knowing where it lives tells us exactly where to start with herbs.
I walk you through how to identify your type of anxiety in the video and which nervines and adaptogens help most.
But it gets even more specific...
In the video, I teach you two exact formulas I use in my clinical practice:
A tincture for restful sleep (with a secret herb most people overlook)
A daily infusion for resilience (that supports the gut, heart and hormones)
I even show you how to modify them based on your unique symptoms.
But I want you to watch how I build them, so you can feel confident making them yourself. This part of the video is packed with nuance and you’ll miss it if you just scan the recipe.

In the comments on the video, I’m asking viewers:
Where does your anxiety show up your head, heart, or gut?
Your answer helps you know which herbs to try first and I’ll respond with personalized guidance.
This isn’t about numbing the symptoms. It’s about helping your body remember what safety feels like again.
You’re not your anxiety. You’re a whole, wise, beautiful human doing your best to stay afloat.
Let’s bring you home to yourself with herbs, compassion, and a deeper understanding of your body.
