Interpreting Your Labs

So you’ve gotten your annual blood work, but it looks like it’s been written in a foreign language. Not only do you not know what it means, you haven’t gotten a follow-up phone call from your physician or if you did, it was a rushed conversation in which you weren’t able to get your questions answered. I can’t be the only one who’s had this experience.

I remember the first time a client asked me if I wanted to see their lab results. 😳 Insert high-pitched voice, “Sure, I’d love to see them, that would be very helpful.”

A couple of hours later, I sat at my desk staring at words and numbers I did not understand. What did I do? I read it and got on Google (of course), and quickly got overwhelmed. I got the definitions and some of the why, but not the nuance. And nuance is where the understanding is. Fast forward with some more training and mentorship under my belt, if I am going to take a private client, I request their labs and imaging.

One of my absolute favorite workshops we’ve done inside Herbal Medicine for the Soul for our students was Interpreting Lab Work. I’m super excited to offer this class to you, so that you can gain a better understanding of what is being tested, why, and what you can do about your health before the numbers say they’re out of “normal” range. We’ll talk about what “normal” even means.

This workshop will be co-taught by my mentor and Iwilla Remedy’s Medical Educator, Dr. Denise Williams, M.D. and myself. Dr. Williams has been an emergency medicine physician for 30+ years.

This workshop is perfect for herbalists and people who want a better understanding of how to track your health and use herbal medicine, and dietary and lifestyle changes to prevent serious conditions from arising. On it, you’ll learn about:

  • Complete Blood Count
  • Chemistry Panel
  • Thyroid Panel
  • Lipids
  • Vitamin D and B12
  • Hemoglobin A1C
  • Herbal medicine recommendations for the common imbalances we’ll be discussing, e.g. iron deficiency anemia, immune support, liver and thyroid health, etc.

When you understand your own blood work, you don’t have to wait until something is wrong in order to take proactive measures to improve your health.

Want us to interpret your blood work? Submit your lab results to by Tuesday, May 31st and they may be selected for live interpretation on the workshop!
