You better get you some herbs in 2025!
I don't know where I'd be if the plants didn't find me...
Probably in a career I hate, alone, bitter, and definitely in worse health. I probably would have stopped joking about having an elective hysterectomy and just gone through with surgery.
I once had a dream where the message was that if I'd hadn't changed, I'd have diabetes by now.
1️⃣ Fresh milky oats for burnout Made from the fresh seed in the milk stage of Avena sativa (same plant as oatmeal), have a uniquely restorative effect on the nervous system. They are particularly beneficial for those feeling scattered, frazzled, or oversensitive, helping to improve concentration, energy, and emotional flexibility.
2️⃣ Mimosa eases the punch in your gut Albizia julibrissin, also known as mimosa or the "tree of happiness," is renowned for its ability to uplift mood, calm the spirit, and ease emotional tension, making it particularly beneficial for those experiencing emotional fatigue, depression, grief, and all manner of tough emotions. Its bark and flowers contain compounds that help regulate neurotransmitters, help us pause before reaching for a harmful coping strategy, and promote a sense of ease.
3️⃣ Chamomile stops the internal tantrum Chamomile is a powerful herbal remedy known for its remarkable ability to reduce anxiety and mental fatigue, with studies showing it can help calm nerves and improve emotional well-being. This is why we love our bitter herbs! The herb contains an active component called apigenin, which acts as a natural tranquilizer by binding to brain receptors, effectively decreasing anxiety and potentially initiating sleep.
4️⃣ Lavender clears the noise in your head Lavender improves sleep, decreases fatigue symptoms, and reduces stress, while also potentially improving heart rate and lowering cortisol for folks with anxiety. Studies suggest lavender might even outperform some antidepressants in promoting calmness and well-being. Sniff the essential oil, make dream pillows, and enjoy the tea.
5️⃣ Blue vervain - Unclench your fists & drop your shoulders Blue vervain acts as a mild sedative, encouraging relaxation and promoting emotional well-being, particularly for those feeling overwhelmed or burnt out. It helps regulate the nervous system, allowing for better focus and reducing excess psychological tension that shows up as neck, shoulder, and other musculoskeletal aches.
6️⃣ Lemon balm - Put down your “basket of burdens” It relieves stress by reducing cortisol, lifting the melancholy, allaying fatigue symptoms, and improving cognition. When we’re chronically stressed we don’t realize how much of an energetic toll it takes on our mental health and bodies. It’s exhausting, so let Lemon balm give you some of your energy back! It eases your anxiety during the day and helps you sleep at night.
7️⃣ Mullein - Stand taller than your fears Mullein is not a shy plant! You can’t help but notice it’s 9 foot stalk, broad leaves, and yellow flowers. It’s not afraid to be seen and neither should you! Fear makes us feel small. Doubt makes us shrink. Mullein will have non of that! It supports emotional well-being by easing stress and anxiety associated with respiratory discomfort, which can be a source of emotional fatigue. When we breathe, we relax...we expand. Its root tincture offers a sense of grounding, which can be especially helpful in times of emotional upheaval or stress.
Plants helped me save my life and reclaim who I am, so offering insights about how they can help you is how I show care for you.
